Amazon Conservation Team

The Amazon Conservation Team represents a new style of environmentalism--entrepreneurial, nimble, and tech savvy.

Their work is helping preserve the Amazon rainforest and the indigenous people who have lived in harmony with the land for thousands of years.

Founded by renowned ethnobotanist and author of Tales of a Shaman's Apprentice Mark J. Plotkin, Ph.D., ACT partners with tribes and local governments in the nations of the Amazon basin to build relationships and new strategies for preserving the planet's last great tropical rainforest.

ACT teaches indigenous partners to use GPS and Google Earth technologies to map, manage, and protect their lands against illegal incursion. They support efforts to preserve culture and make traditional living a viable option for the people of the rainforest. Support ACT.
